Can you give me a quote over the phone?

We personally view every job. The reason we cannot give you a quote over the phone is because every job is different. We are not just looking at the quantity and weight of the items being removed but also access ways for the furniture you require moving (furniture built in a room may not always leave whole), tight turns to determine if your furniture will be taken out the front, back or maybe through the garage, access for vehicles (how close we can park which determines how many labourers we require to chain it to the vehicle), gradient of driveway (our lower vehicles may not have ground clearance) and access roads (lorries are not always able to access rural locations or busy roads). We also discuss your requirements do you need a full packing service, do you require us to disassemble your bed/ table/ wardrobe to make it ready for transportation? Do you require assembly the other end (of the items we took apart). Do you require your washing machine unplumbed or re-plumbed? Do you need any clearance of items no longer required? Do you need local storage? All of these things will alter the price. However, our quote prices are free and there is no obligation to proceed. A working plan is formed from day one.

What is the best way to get in touch?

We prefer corresponding by email as it forms a paper trail.
Initially we require the basics: your name, contact telephone number and the full addresses, including postcodes, of where you are moving from and to.
If it can be the same email address each time it is easier to keep track of information. Dealing with two separate emails can get confusing. Help us to help you. Our email is monitored closely even during annual leave so you are guaranteed the quickest response this way.
We are more than happy to give you a call if you need us to. Sometimes it is easier depending on what is being discussed.

Do you offer storage and what size will I need?

We have storage but it fills up fast and is not always available.
During the quote we can tell you what size container you will need and can advise on other local units that you can book if ours are full. We generally always recommend outdoor containers as they are bigger, easier to access and usually cheaper than indoor.
Top tip: Please do not store anything that contains moisture - air con units, tumble dryer trays, fridge trays all need emptying. Plants will not survive in the dark without light and water so make alternative arrangements for these.

Can you move me from elsewhere in UK/Europe to Cornwall?

Yes, we call this a reverse removal. We don't do it often and it is usually easier to use a local firm. If you would like a quote then we would require a video of ALL items you want to go. You would then email or WhatsApp it to us. The video needs to be walking talking, You would show us each room in turn and slowly turn so we can see everything. You need to tell us what is staying, going and what needs taking apart. Show all rooms including outside areas and garden pots (these take up floor space and do not stack), If we do not see it then we haven't accounted it for it and it may not fit on the van(s).
We have our International Operators Licence so we are able to move you to or from Europe. We will require a video as detailed above.

Can you remove my TV or shelving units?

We can take down your TV but we are unable to remove supporting brackets. Items that are structural or screwed in to the wall we cannot remove as it may damage the wall. You will be pleased to hear that we would not attempt anything that may mark or damage the property itself. If you can have these unscrewed we will happily take them on the day.

Can you take apart furniture and put it back together the other end?

Yes, absolutely. Upon viewing the property we will video the items in question so that our tools man brings along the correct equipment. He is more than happy to reassemble the other end (ensure you have checked/ measured so that it will fit in the new room). He is unable to reassemble items that he has not taken apart himself.

Can you pack us and unpack us?

We can certainly pack you. We will require at least one additional day to do this and we provide all of the packing materials needed. We can also shrink wrap velvet sofas and hang your clothes in wardrobe boxes for an additional charge. We do not unpack you. We are more than happy to place each box in the correct room and stack it for you so that you can access them. We always recommend one box at a time, Take your time to settle into your new beginnings.

When do we have to tell you our date / how do we book in?

Once you have received your quote by email you can confirm if you are happy with the quoted price. We will then wait to hear from you. The quickest moves take approx 12 weeks from start to finish and so we do not expect this to be a quick process. However, when your ready to talk exchange dates send us an email and we can reply advising what dates we currently have available which is a good guide. We can pencil you in but this does not secure a date. Only a confirmed booking will secure a date. Once you have exchanged we can confirm your booking.

What time do you arrive on removal day?

We usually arrive at 9am. We will have you loaded by approx 12 noon. The load up takes longer than the off load. We work fast to get your items into the correct rooms so that you have time to nest. We only leave once you are happy with where all of your items have been placed.

Can we help you?

We do not expect you to help. We are more than happy to take the stress completely off of your shoulders. All we require of you on the day is to; maybe hold a parking space for us close by to your property, advise your neighbour's you are moving so they are not inconvenienced (maybe they need to move their vehicles if its a shared drive), show us what is remaining, being cleared and or being taken to your new property and be there to X off the house. We will need you to check every room and outside to ensure we have everything.
If you are packing yourself then please try and keep everything square. Use boxes with lids and if possible please keep them all uniform size as they stack better. If you have bedding or clothing in bags please tie the handles together so it's secure.
Your most important role is once you have the keys to your new property we will require you to stay near the front door and advise which room to place your items and if you have particular pieces of furniture going in particular places so we don't stack boxes in the way. I can not state enough that this is integral. We cannot successfully move you in without your guidance,
Please be advised if you do choose to help lift items to or from the the van you do so at your own risk. You are not authorized to use the tail-lift on the van or climb on it as we have no insurance to cover you should you slip.

What shall I do with my pet on move day?

Moving is listed as one of the most stressful things you will do in your life and this is why we love to help so that moving for you is enjoyable and easy. However, your pets will not enjoy move day. Cats especially hate moving and we recommend leaving them in an empty room with their travel items and comfort music/food for the duration. Tell us which room they are in and we will leave them be!

Do you provide mattress bags?

Yes, we have singles to super-king size mattress bags. We use these as they have handles that will help us carry and protect your mattress on its journey.

How will all my items fit in the vans you bring?

We will rotate your furniture like a puzzle. We ask you to empty your drawers of contents for that reason. Your bedside table may end up flipped upside down but always protected and supported. We blanket all your items and tie them so that nothing moves on the van.

Can you take my TV if I don't have the packaging / original box?

Yes, every piece of furniture has its place in the van. It may need to sit in the cab due to its fragility or be placed on last in a bed of blankets away from the other items. We make those decisions on quote day and before we begin loading.

Can I leave my clothes inside the chest-of-drawers?

We do prefer them empty due to the weight and navigating tight turns. However, it's not the end of the worlld. We would just remove them in the house and slide them back in on the van and the same the other end.

How do I pack my clothes?

We refer to clothing, cushions and bedding as 'squashy'. This gets placed as the top layer in the van as it is light (usually). These are best packed in clean black bin bags or suitcases.

Do I have to fully take apart my bed or desk etc?

Yes please. When we stack the van we keep it as square as possible and flat-pack should be just that - flat. It's easier to stack on the van, tie and more secure. We will blanket these too.
If you are disassembling yourself then it is useful to place all screws in a sandwich bag and tape it to the furniture. Please tape over any fixings remaining so that they do not fall out. Our toolsman colour codes rooms with tape to ensure parts stay together - you may find that useful if you have lots of similar items.

Do I need to empty my fridge and or freezer?

Yes, we do require you to empty the FRIDGE as it has a lot of open items that will slide and spill. It will make a mess in the van and all over your items so it is a MUST that you pack these items into bags.

Your FREEZER can remain full and if you leave the door shut it will help keep your food frozen during the move. You must leave a minimum of 4 hours before turning it back on the other end as your freezer will have been tilted going on and off the van and through doorways.

Are there any items you wont take?

We do not take paint, gas or fuel as it is not worth the risk. If a tin of paint or fuel leaks then it will soak into our van and your stacked items. So a firm no.
We can not take animals (including humans!) as our insurance does not cover them or you.

We do not take anything that does not belong to you or that you do not have the authority to take.

We do not take anything illegal from firearms to illegal drugs.

Do you move large heavy items like American fridges or pianos etc?

Yes, we have heavy lifting straps and trolleys / piano trolleys for large items. Please let us know the size and weight of your item to ensure it is within our abilities to move.

Do you take deposits / when and how do I pay?

We do not take deposits as dates are subject to change at no fault to yourselves. We understand this and simply request that you keep us informed of any potential issues and changes. We can help and advise every step of the way. We will always do our best to accommodate you.
We send the invoice once you are successfully in your new property or into storage and happy with where the items are placed. If we have moved you into storage we will send you a photo of the container pre-closing the doors if you are not present.
The emailed invoice will contain our bank details and we ask that you pay within 24 hours. Thank you.

If you have any more unanswered questions please do not hesitate to get in touch. Thank you.
